Canada operates a Temporary Foreign Workers Program (TFWP) which allows foreigners to work for a period less than a year in sectors of its economy such as Agriculture. One of those programs is the Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program (SAWP). This allows farmers from participating countries (Mexico and several Caribbean islands including Jamaica) to work in primary agriculture in Canada’s provinces. The maximum period of work for this Programme is set at eight (8) months.
